Covid and gout: An unhealthy combination
During the Covid pandemic, rheumatologists at one of Mexico City’s leading teaching hospitals saw the rate of flare-ups in their gout patients rocket from 1 in 25 to 1 in 3. Uric acid levels rose by 54%, and Covid rates were much higher than for the rest of the population.
